Our Roots
Future Achievers was born in 2020 during the peak of the COVID-19 pandemic. As youth unemployment reached record levels, we saw a generation of talented individuals at risk of being sidelined by systemic barriers. We recognized that the disconnect between education and career aspirations was leading to a profound loss of hope among racialized, marginalized, and newcomer youth.
We stepped in to ensure that “unprecedented times” did not lead to lost potential, actively working to dismantle the obstacles that stand between talented youth and careers they love.
Our journey was sparked by our Executive Director, Andrea Wilson, who consistently met young professionals with immense potential but few avenues to showcase it.
Driven by a desire to provide the specific opportunities and learning required to navigate a shifting landscape, Andrea founded Future Achievers to ensure youth could build careers they truly love, rather than just finding jobs.
This vision is also how our team came to be and how our non-profit operates today. We are an organization built by a dynamic team of both young and older professionals who are passionate about giving back and building up young professionals.
We create a sustainable ecosystem of empowerment where the younger generation leads the work, while the older generation helps by opening doors and providing the high-level industry access needed for long-term success.
